Resource discovery
Conventionally, "resource discovery" means searching for items such
as journal articles using a bibliographic database such as INSPEC or
BIOSIS, or searching for useful web resources using a catalogue such
as EEVL or BIOME.
How does the user "discovers" these services in the first place,
and how does he or she assess their relevance?
Cross-searching
A cross-search (concurrent searching across multiple services)
can be an efficient way for users to discover resources:
it is faster and requires only one user interface
It is also useful to enable users to discover new services
relevant to their area of interest
